New Functionality in Studies and Solvers Studies and Study Step Functionality • The PML, Infinite Elements, and Scaling System nodes can now be enabled and disabled from a study step. • The study step settings now include a list of multiphysics couplings in the study. Solver Functionality • The new smooth aggregations AMG solver is a multigrid solver that can handle a wider variety of problems than the classic AMG solver, such as saddle point forms of the Stokes and Navier-Stokes equations. • Old solution settings are now kept in results features when clearing the solution. • Initial conditions that depend on a parameter now respect the auxiliary sweep through an automatic synchronization of values of parameters to use for initial expressions. It also possible to pass local constants to solvers. • Zero padding of input data is now available for the forward FFT solver. There are also new predefined variables that are available for user-defined window functions using an expression. • The Domain Decomposition solver has been improved with better performance and support for restricted Schwarz methods. You can also use the new smooth aggregations AMG solver as the multigrid solver in domain decomposition. • A new option makes it possible to name exported files by means of an index instead of parameter names and values. You can use this option for shorter filenames when the parameter names are long and many in a parametric sweep, for example. • The MUMPS solver has been upgraded to version 5.0.1 with improved OpenMP support and a number of bug fixes. • Support for symmetric dense matrices in the dense matrix format provides speed and memory improvement to applications using BEM. • The frequency-domain modal solver now includes non-homogeneous Dirichlet conditions when performing a matrix export. • The performance of the ODE integration has been improved. • The job scheduler now shows progress information. • A preference setting for the number of sockets in a multicore computer has been added. • The comsol batch command supports two new options: -paramfile and -error.
