Multibody Dynamics Module
New Functionality in Version 5.2a
New Gear Functionality
New functionality is introduced in the Multibody Dynamics Module to model a system of gears for power transmission. There are several types of gears available to connect and transfer power from one shaft to another shaft. The results obtained from the gear dynamics can be further used for the fatigue analysis of a gear, or for an acoustic analysis to compute the noise generated by the system.
Gear Nodes
The following nodes are added in the Multibody Dynamics interface to model different types of gears and racks:
Gear Pair Nodes
The following nodes are added in the Multibody Dynamics interface to connect different types of gears and racks:
Gear Pair Subnodes
The following subnodes are added on gear pair nodes to incorporate the effects of gear mesh elasticity, transmission error, backlash, and friction in the gear dynamics:
Gear Parts Library
A new gear parts library is added in the Multibody Dynamics Module to create geometries of different types of gear. The gear geometries are available for 3D and 2D models. All of the geometries are parametrized and the input parameters can be varied to customize the gear tooth or gear blank shape.
The following gear geometries are available in the parts library:
