Connect to server and server interactions

Connecting to a server, other than what is automatically opened, is now more stringent with COMSOL Multiphysics. The user can select Connect to Server and specify connection settings in the Connect to Server window. If the client in LiveLink™ for Excel® is connected to a server and the user selects Open, the model will be opened on the connected server. If no server is connected and the user selects Open an automatic server will be launched and the model will be loaded on the started server, similar to the behavior in version 5.2. It is also possible to import an application from the server and remove applications from the server.

Support for launching Apps

It is now possible to run an application and launch the COMSOL Server interface from LiveLink™ for Excel®. The COMSOL Server interface will be displayed in a separate window.

Parameters

•	Parameter values that are imported into a worksheet may now include the values in addition to the expressions that define the parameters. The values can be updated on the fly in order to evaluate a set of parameters before starting a simulation.

•	A new preference setting, called Automatic update, has been introduced for parameters. When this setting is selected, editing the cells for the imported parameters will automatically update the model, and the values for the imported parameters.

Changes to the Interpretation of Cell ranges

When using a cell range, such as "A1:B20", this cell range is now used to decide exactly what cells are used for the import. The old method just used the first cell and continued until an empty row was found. The old method is still supported if only a single cell is specified ("C5", for example).
